Hi, I’m Kayla Vogel—a Colorado native, lifelong book lover, and founder of Mossy Moon Books.

My journey as a children’s author began over a decade ago when I wrote my first story for my nephew, Brock. What started as a simple, heartfelt gift quickly grew into something much bigger: a passion for blending literacy with a love of the outdoors. That first story eventually became Herman Finds a Home, and it marked the beginning of a meaningful creative path.

As I became a mother, my purpose deepened. I saw firsthand how challenging it can be for busy families to find engaging, accessible ways to support early literacy. That realization shaped my mission: to create resources that meet parents where they are—making learning both manageable and joyful.

At Mossy Moon Books, we believe in nurturing curiosity through stories that connect children to nature, imagination, and each other. Our goal is to support families with thoughtfully designed books and activities that fit seamlessly into everyday life.
